Two Principles to Post-Election Health
Scott Prentice
Our neighbors, like us, have been bombarded by months of political news, countless commercials, negative attacks, and relentless divisiveness. Not to mention, all of which have taken place during a global pandemic that has radically impacted so much of how we live.
As the election conclusions will eventually wind down, let's wrestle with the question, "What now?" People need grounded perspective and clear vision.
Two simple principles from the Bible can benefit us all.
First, remember the goodness of God. Navigating the pandemic and enduring the drama of the election have been challenging, but let's not forget how God has sustained us through it all. Our country still remains one of the greatest nations known for its freedoms and opportunities. Think about and discuss with those around you how God continues to show his common grace.
Second, be thankful in thought and word. We can all find things that frustrate us and lead to complaining. What good has come from that though? It's far more refreshing to our neighbors to hear words of gratitude. Plus, honest and simple expressions of thanksgiving are good for us too! How long is your list of big and small things for which you are thankful?
